Ukraine airport: Your Flight Options

Knowing your flight options around Ukraine is very important, as it may greatly speed your traveling through this country. The fact is that the most develop type of transportation in Ukraine is railway. Still you can book the flights to the most large or key cities of this country.

Ukraine has 36 airports, but not all of them function and not all of them are international. Presently there are only 6 large and international airports in Ukraine. Those are located in Kiev, Kharkov, Simferopol, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lvov and Odessa. So, you can book a direct flight to one of these cities from abroad.

However, if your destination is a smaller town, then you may need a connection flight to get there. That is in case that town has a local airport in it. Presently there are 18 local functioning airports in Ukraine.

Here is a list of some of the functioning airports you can use to speed up your traveling around Ukraine:

Gostomel airport, Vinnitsa, Zaporozie, Ivano-Frankovsk, Kerch, Krivoy Rog, Lugansk, Mariupol, Nikolaev, Uzgorod, Cherkassy and Chernovtsy airports. All these are functioning and some of them, such as Uzgorod even receive international flights.

Borispol International Airport

Borispol Airport is the main airport of Ukraine. Recently it has undergone reconstruction with several new terminals added to it. It receives the flights from all over the world.

Borispol Airport is located about 15 miles away from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Once you land there, you may find shuttle buses or cabs to take you to the city. The shuttle bus would take you to one of the subway stations of Kiev, while the cab may take you right to your hotel in Kiev or to the railway station.

There is a hotel located within a walking distance from the airport, where you can spend a night waiting for your connection flight.

You may also take flights around Ukraine or other Eastern Europe countries from Borispol airport.

Odessa International Airport

Odessa airport is located just outside Odessa city. It is one of the largest Ukrainian airports in the south of this country. Odessa is one of the largest Ukraine cities and its airport should be your choice if you plan to visit the south of Ukraine or just cities, as Nikolaev, Kherson, Kirovograd, etc.

This airport serves local flights around Ukraine, so you may book your local connection flight from this airport. The airport facility is pretty old, as was constructed in the 50s of the last century. However, recently it has undergone a massive reconstruction, so it offers all the commodities of the modern and up to date airport.
